Mahindra Racing has competed in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since Season 1, representing the Indian car giant on a global sporting scale in single seater motor racing.  Mahindra is a manufacturer of electric cars, and utilises its competition in the championship as a fast-paced test-bed to develop and refine its groundbreaking electric vehicle technology through its ‘Race to Road’ programme.

The team scored its breakthrough win in the 2016/17 campaign and in 2017/18, went on to score two further victories thanks to Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist, who raced alongside German driver Nick Heidfeld.

Another victory followed in Season 5 as Jerome d’Ambrosio scooped a win in Marrakesh, while d’Amrosio also scored four top tens in Season 6.

In September 2020 Mahindra Racing became the first Formula E team in history – and only the second motorsport team in the world in addition to McLaren Racing Formula 1 Team – to receive the Three-Star highest sustainability accolade by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), motorsport’s governing body.

“I’m delighted to have joined Mahindra Racing and to be continuing my Formula E campaign.  It is an exciting opportunity to bring on the team’s package and challenge for strong results.  Promoting sustainability and electric mobility is important to me personally and competing in Formula E provides a strong, innovative and forward-looking platform to raise awareness.”

Alexander Sims

“I’m thrilled on behalf of the whole team to welcome Alexander. I’m extremely excited about working with him and the prospect of what we can achieve together is motivating. In Alexander we have a proven racing talent plus someone that embodies what Mahindra Racing stands for with his personal principles in the areas of electrification and sustainability. He is an intellectual driver, a very nice guy and a team player; I’m enthused about what Season 7 will bring”
