BOW-MANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (July 12, 2026) – Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia finished ninth in the IMSA GTD PRO class in Sunday’s Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Driving their No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Sims and Garcia endured a frustrating race that saw a slow pit stop hinder their chances of a podium finish.
Heading into the Chevrolet Grand Prix, the duo sat second in the GTD PRO standings, and targeted a strong result to elevate them into the lead with less than half the season remaining.

It started off strong, with Alexander securing P3 in a challenging qualifying session where he executed the team’s tire strategy and turned a lap of 1 minute, 14.569 seconds (118.713 mph).
During the race the No.3 Corvette was fast over a lap, but struggled with pace against the cars who were on a fuel save stint. Despite this, Sims was able to maintain track position throughout the early stages.
However their race became more challenging when, in the first pit stop, there was a slow left rear change that cost them track position in particular when the field was so condensed due to pitting under a yellow. When the order cycled back around they were stuck mid-pack, eventually crossing the line ninth and dropping back into fourth in the GTD PRO standings.
The next IMSA event is the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix from Road America on Sunday, August 2, where Sims and Garcia will fight to gain crucial points in their bid for the championship.

ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “That was quite a frustrating day to be honest. The Corvette was working well. We had good pace, but everybody was on a fuel save in the first stint, and we couldn’t pass even when pushing. We didn’t have the speed in the right places, but the Corvette was very fast over a lap. Held position nicely in that first stint, and then then unfortunately in that first pit stop, we had a slow rear-left change that cost us track position when the field is so condensed pitting under yellow. And I think unfortunately that also impacted the No. 4 a bit as well. So, once we cycled back because of that with just one more stop to make in the race that was the situation we got stuck with. A shame for the Pratt Miller guys because we put in a lot of effort. The pace we showed in qualifying and in the race deserved better, but that’s where racing goes sometimes. You don’t get the result that you want. Got to take it on the chin and bounce back at Road America.”
