Sims takes victory at 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers

Nürburgring, Germany. (April 19, 2026) – Representing SCHERER SPORT PHX in their No.16 Audi entry, Alexander Sims and teammates Ben Green and Christopher Haase drove to victory in the second race of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers.

Following his win at the 24h Nürburgring in 2020, Sims returns to the Green Hell in 2026 with a new team, new car and the same hunger for success. Joining SCHERER SPORT PHX alongside fellow Brit Ben Green and 2012 and 2014 24h Nürburgring winner Christoper Haase, Alexander’s campaign began with the Qualifiers weekend, consisting of qualifying sessions and two four-hour races.

In Sunday’s race the trio lined up third on the grid and, with Christopher behind the wheel, soon found themselves in a fierce battle with former Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen in his Mercedes GT3.

After seven laps, Christopher handed the blue and white Audi over to Alexander during the pit stop. The Briton initially held second place, but when Verstappen’s car had to pit after ten laps, he took the lead and never relinquished it. Shortly after the halfway point of the race, he handed the cockpit over to his compatriot Ben Green who was able to maintain their impressive margin.

Ultimately, the No.16 Audi took the chquered flag with a lead of 28.024 seconds. Whilst an incredible performance, the victory is secondary to the loss felt by the entire racing community following the tragic passing of Juha Miettinen during Saturday’s race.

Following on from their success this weekend, Alexander, Ben and Christopher will tackle the 24 Hours of Nürburgring together on May 16th 2026.
